Andre Adams, Luke Fletcher and Darren Pattinson are all out of contention for a place in the Notts Outlaws team to face Kent Spitfires at Trent Bridge on Saturday (play begins 1.45pm).
Newell also expects Adams (knee strain) and Fletcher (stomach strain) to miss next week’s LV= County Championship match against Durham.
Andy Carter comes into the squad with Jake Ball next in line for a call-up if there are any further injuries to the Notts seam bowlers.
Newell is expected to name an unchanged opening pair with Alex Hales and Hashim tasked with establishing a solid platform.
The match will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 2 from 1.30pm.
