Adam Voges showed no sign of jet lag in amassing 165 runs against Oxfordshire MCCU 48 hours after landing in England for his fourth stint at Nottinghamshire.
Voges will remain at Trent Bridge until the conclusion of the Friends Life t20 and showed excellent touch to refresh memories of his heroics at Old Trafford on the final day of last season.
Notts declared on 487-7 at The Parks with Ali Brown not out on 128 having recovered from 38-3. South African Oxford Brookes student Marc Milligan accounted for Nottinghamshire's top three as Wagh (10), Franks (9) and Hales (9) failed to make a start before Patel and Voges renewed their partnership to put on 197 for the fourth wicket.
Oxford will resume on 29-1 after Luke Fletcher trapped Sam Agarwal lbw.
