Samit Patel will return to the Notts Outlaws team for this evening’s Friends Life t20 fixture against Derbyshire Falcons.
Patel is a member of England’s 12-man squad for England’s Natwest Series One Day Internationals against Sri Lanka but has been made available after missing out on selection for the second match in the series at Headingley.
His inclusion is a further boost to Notts in a game in which Tamium Iqbal will make his debut in club colours.
“Samit’s availability is a huge bonus for us because we had written him off in our planning,” said Nottinghamshire Director of Cricket Mick Newell.
“England have decided to balance their side in a particular way but we’re delighted to have him back in the team.”
Adam Voges will captain Notts for the first time following the departure of David Hussey and Newell believes that a victory could be enough to secure a quarter-final spot for Notts who top North Group.
“I think that 18 points will be enough for a quarter-final spot but we’re targeting a home fixture and I think that 22 points will be about where the line is drawn,” he said.
Tamim Iqbal will open the batting alongside Alex Hales with Voges, Patel and Riki Wessels completing the top five.
Ben Phillips remains sidelined having dislocated his finger but Andre Adams keeps his place with Graeme White left out.
