Yorkshire 231-2 (40 overs) lost to Nottinghamshire 232-6 (38.5 overs) by 4 wkts 

Yorkshire won the toss and batted on a flat pitch at Headingley but failed to take full advantage of the conditions despite only losing two wickets in their allotted forty overs. 

Gary Balance and Chris Geldart posted 147 for the first wicket in 30 overs before Akhil Patel made the breakthrough bowling the latter for 65 from 93 balls.

The pair had been contained after a promising start by the spin of Patel and Sam Wood who conceded just 76 from their combined sixteen overs aided by some excellent ground fielding from their teammates. 

When the batting power play ended after the 36th over, the score stood at 186 where on after reaching his century from 108 balls, Balance attacked the faster bowlers. 

The return of Scott Elstone saw him caught in the deep by Michael Robson for 129, the innings closing five balls later. Notts suffered an early loss of Ali Brown but Patel and Riki Wessels settled in and took the score to 85 before Wessels departed for 38. 

After the dismissal of Sam Wood soon afterwards, Patel and Scott Elstone kept Notts up with the required rate. 

Patel reached his fifty from 58 balls with nine fours but he was reduced to singles for the remainder of his innings before finally being stumped going down the pitch to Wainwright with the score at 181. 

Jake Ball was sent in to take advantage of the batting power play but was out for 8 on 194 leaving Notts needing 28 from 30 balls. 

Scott Elstone reduced this to 17 from 19 when he was dismissed for 52 from just 44 balls . 

Tensions rose in the visiting camp but  Michael Robson and debutant Tom Rowe saw them home with seven balls remaining.
