Ben Martindale has signed a three-year contract with Nottinghamshire, keeping him at the club until the conclusion of the 2026 season.

The extension follows a strong season for the 20-year-old, during which he has averaged over 26 in the Second XI Championship, in addition to hitting two fifties in eight innings in the Second XI T20.

“I am really pleased; from where I was last year to now, everything has progressed so quickly,” Martindale said.

“Over the last year, with training through the winter and fully throwing myself in, I feel like I have really found myself as a cricketer.

“I have figured myself out as a player and worked out what makes me tick. That has made a massive difference.

“It is a lovely feeling to be playing at the ground you’ve always pictured yourself at. Hopefully I can keep going the way I am over the next three years, pushing for a place in the first team in all three formats and helping us to win games with performances.”

The top-order batter began his ties with the Green and Golds as a 10-year-old, and progressed through the Club’s County Age Groups before graduating from the Notts Academy.

He was offered a short-term contract in 2022 prior to earning an extended one-year deal.

His first team debut came in a List A fixture against Gloucestershire in the Royal London Cup.

“Ben has earned this contract through sustained performances this year,” Head Coach Peter Moores said.

“He has made everyone stand up and take note not just through the volume of runs he has scored, but the way he has scored them.

“He has been the standout performer in the Second XI so far this season, though it his potential to develop further that is really exciting.

“It’s always rewarding to see someone come through our own system, and this contract is testament to everyone at the club who has worked with him to help him get to this point.

“Hopefully he inspires other young players in our pathway to keep working hard, and we’re all looking forward to watching him progress over the coming seasons.”
