The Blaze suffered their third defeat of the season as an impressive Sunrisers side powered to victory in Chelmsford.
Regular wickets stymied any momentum that The Blaze were able to muster, eventually all out for 87 inside 31.3 overs.
In reply, home skipper Grace Scrivens led from the front with an assured knock of 46 as the Sunrisers ran out seven-wicket victors.
With the start delayed until midday due to overnight and morning rain, Kirstie Gordon lost the toss and her side were invited to have first use of the wicket.
A contest reduced to 42 overs per side, the top order made good use of the power play, reaching 30/2.
The hosts’ spinners were quick to turn the screw once fielding restrictions lifted, combining to talk the next four wickets, Mady Villiers ending with 3-18 with Jodi Grewcock conceding just seven runs from her eight overs, alongside taking the wicket of Ella Claridge.
Nicola Hancock (3-20) and Kate Coppack (2-33) then returned to rip through the lower order, adding to their scalps of The Blaze’s openers earlier in the innings.
In reply, Grace Ballinger produced a peach of a delivery to send Ariana Dowse on her way, before debutant Bethan Gammon, The Blaze’s Talent Manager turned newest cap, was quick off the mark at cover to run out Cordelia Griffith.
Scrivens, however, was unfazed, finding ample support in Grewcock (13) to form a 40-run partnership, taking the hosts to the brink of victory before Villiers, the pick of the bowlers earlier in the day, hit the winning runs in the 21st over.
Next up for The Blaze is a trip to Scarborough to face the Northern Diamonds on Wednesday.
