Brett Hutton has signed a two-year contract extension, committing him to Trent Bridge until the conclusion of the 2026 season.
The deal follows a golden summer for the 31-year-old, during which he claimed 62 First-Class scalps to finish as the top wicket-taker across both divisions of the County Championship at an average of 21.40.
His collection included six five-wicket hauls, doubling his red-ball tally in Notts colours.
The former pathway product also recorded a First-Class best with the bat, amassing an assured 84 against Kent as Notts fought back from trailing by one run with three second-innings wickets remaining, to fall just short of victory.
That followed a resolute display against Lancashire at Trent Bridge earlier in the season, in which Hutton batted for two and half hours to keep the Red Rose at bay and ultimately help secure a draw.
“I think it was clear how much I enjoyed last season,” Hutton said.
“I was able to take my opportunity when it came and I feel like I got the reward for a lot of hard work over a number of years. To have my best season after a decade as a professional at my boyhood club is pretty special.
“But, really, any of our success was a collective effort and I am grateful to be in a dressing room that enjoys playing together and being with each other so much.
“So many people stood up at various points of the season in all formats, and that is a great environment to play cricket in, where everyone is pulling in the same direction.
“It feels like a squad building towards something and I’m delighted to remain a part of that for the next few years.”
Hutton rose through the ranks at Nottinghamshire before progression into the Second XI in 2010, making his First-Class debut in the same year in Abu Dhabi against the MCC.
The seamer undertook a temporary switch to Northampton in 2017 before returning to Trent Bridge ahead of the 2021 campaign.
He has taken 117 red-ball scalps in his three years back in green and gold, having also finished as Notts Outlaws’ top wicket-taker in the One Day Cup in 2022 and 2023.
“Brett’s achievement with the ball last year really showed hallmarks of the type of the player and person he is,” Peter Moores said.
“His skills and consistency with the ball are tremendous - he has got better and better every year since coming back to Trent Bridge a few years ago.
“His contributions with the bat shouldn’t be underestimated either, he has shown on a number of occasions the ability to lift us out of tricky situations and put us on the front foot.
“He leaves everything out on the field and he is a hugely resilient character. He has embraced any challenges that have come his way throughout his career, taking his opportunities when they've been given.
“And he is an asset to the squad off the field with the way he is able to share his experience with others. He sets a great example and it is great to have another homegrown player continuing to call Notts home.”
