The dawn of winter spells a fresh tranche of international, franchise and club cricket commitments for Nottinghamshire’s players and staff, with tours and tournaments in Nepal, Australia, the UAE, South Africa and New Zealand all on the radar.
England Lions tour of South Africa (November 20 - December 14)
Freddie McCann, Farhan Ahmed and Dillon Pennington have all been named in England Lions’ tour to South Africa in November, with the latter earning international recognition for the first time since his senior squad call-up in the summer, prior to injury.
It is McCann’s first time in the squad having appeared for England U19s prior to his Notts First XI debut, while Ahmed faced Sri Lanka at Visit Worcestershire New Road in August.
Abu Dhabi T10 (November 21- December 2)
Notts’ top-order titan Alex Hales will turn out for Ajman Bolts in the short-format tournament, while Peter Moores will act as Deccan Gladiators batting coach prior to his Big Bash League stint.
ExxonMobil Guyana Global Super League (November 26 - December 7)
Joe Clarke will be in Cricket Victoria's squad for the Guyana-based Global Super League - a five team tournament featuring teams from around the world, including Hampshire Hawks. Victoria will play four group matches at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, with the top two teams qualifying for the final on December 7.
England tour of New Zealand (November 28 - December 18)
England’s ODI tour of the West Indies concludes 10 days prior to the Three Lions’ assignment in the land of the long white cloud.
Ben Duckett and Olly Stone have both been included in the touring party.
Nepal Premier League (November 30 - December 21)
Tom Moores has been picked up by Lumbini Lions for the Nepal Premier League. Notts’ wicketkeeper-batter, who is fourth on the list of Outlaws’ all-time T20 run scorers, heads to Kathmandu having completed a stint in the National Cricket League, Dallas.
Big Bash League (December 15 - January 27)
Peter Moores will return to Melbourne Stars as Head Coach, having begun his tenure with the side Down Under last year.
International League T20 (January 11 - Feburary 9)
Joe Clarke will again represent Abu Dhabi Knight Riders at the UAE-based tournament.
Club Cricket
Calvin Harrison has joined Camberwell Magpies in Melbourne for the winter months, plying his trade in Victorian Premier Cricket. In doing so, he joins Head Coach David Alleyne, who won the County Championship with Notts in 2005. He is joined in Australia by Matt Montgomery, who is playing at Buckley Ridges in Dandenong.
