Byron Hatton-Lowe has earned his first call-up to the England Men U19s squad, as the Young Lions face Scotland Men U19s and Ireland Men U19s in an ODI tri-series at Loughborough.
The 17-year-old pace-bowling all-rounder has continued to impress in age-group cricket this year, and has made four further appearances for Nottinghamshire's Second XI, hitting 60 against Leicestershire in the Championship and taking five wickets.
Nottingham-born Hatton-Lowe plays his club cricket for Papplewick, having previously represented Clifton Village.
He follows Farhan Ahmed and Freddie McCann in earning recognition at Young Lions level in recent weeks, with Ahmed and Lyndon James having featured for England Lions against Sri Lanka before the current Test series began.
Thomas Rew, 16, will lead the Young Lions, while Richard Halsall will step in as Head Coach in the absence of Mike Yardy, who will be part of the England Men coaching team during the white-ball series against Australia.
“It has been really exciting to see the development of the Under-19s this summer. We’ve seen a host of the squad from the Sri Lanka series go on to play first-team cricket and that gives us an opportunity to expose more young players to international cricket in this series," said Halsall.
“I am really looking forward to taking over the reins as coach from Yards. We know we will need to compete from ball one against Ireland and Scotland and I am looking forward to seeing the squad show off their skills in this series."
