It is not, however, the first clash of such a magnitude in our corner of the cricketing world – while players of undoubted pedigree are set to take to the field.

An all-star cast

Collectively, the two sides boast no fewer than six players who are riding high in the ICC player rankings, while England and India are currently ranked second and third in the world respectively.

The Three Lions will benefit from the presence of the world's leading white-ball bowler in Sophie Ecclestone. Nat Sciver-Brunt and Sarah Glenn, meanwhile, are firmly stablished amongst the globe's finest players in the all-rounder and bowler rankings respectively - and both have extensive Trent Bridge experience from their domestic careers with The Blaze.

Representing India will be the likes of Smriti Mandhana – long regarded as one of the finest T20 batters in women’s cricket – while Deepti Sharma is an off-spinner who combines wiliness with the ball with batting brutality, and Renuka Singh adds a dose of pace to the Indian armoury.

Previously at Trent Bridge

In recent summers, Trent Bridge has witnessed many a breakthrough moment for the women’s game.

The Blaze, winners of T20 silverware in 2024, have performed in front of record domestic crowds, while crowds in excess of 10,000 are regularly recorded as Trent Rockets’ women grace the stage.

In 2023, meanwhile, the venue hosted the sole Women's Ashes Test match of the summer – the first ever five-day Test on English soil.

On that occasion, 23,207 people came to witness the action – and were treated to vintage performances from England and Australia stars alike.

Tammy Beaumont, who also calls Trent Bridge home as part of The Blaze, compiled a masterful double-century across days two and three of the contest, with Ecclestone claiming no fewer than ten Australian wickets.

It was Australia who had the last laugh, however, with Ash Gardner’s eight wickets securing the spoils for the visitors on the final day.

Defeat for the hosts did not, however, dampen the enthusiasm of an enraptured crowd – Trent Bridge earned the title of Best International Women's Spectator Experience at the 2023 Business of Cricket Awards, whilst day three of the fixture was rated as the best major matchday that year by attendees across domestic and international cricket.

It was dubbed as the 'series that caught fire' after England almost fought back to win the Ashes with memorable performances in the ODIs and IT20s – but those sparks were ignited on Trent Bridge soil.

We saw records tumble and memorable moments aplenty during the Test – and we hope to see nothing less for this summer's IT20 showdown with India.
