Dane Paterson stole the show on the opening day of the Vitality County Championship season at Trent Bridge.
Paterson, who flew back from a winter at home only on Wednesday, powered a Nottinghamshire fightback by taking five for 49, while Dillon Pennington, Lyndon James and Calvin Harrison also made inroads into the Essex line-up.
