Dane Paterson reflected on the process of 'biting the bullet' to take to the field soon after arriving in Nottingham and take a five-wicket haul against Essex.
Those were five of nine wickets to fall on the opening day of the season, with the visitors reduced to 244/9 before bad light took hold.
Paterson's seventh haul in green and gold followed a successful winter for the seamer during which he represented South Africa alongside Dean Elgar - one of his victims on his return to Trent Bridge.
